Further Wandering Through the Medblogs

I’ve been in a little bit of a medblog rut lately. Not that I wasn’t enjoying my regular reads, I was just craving a little variety. So I ventured outside the U.S. and found me a med student, an ER doc, and I think a surgeon, but I'm not sure.

I don’t know anything about the UK (except for Celebdaq, which is what occupied my time at work before I discovered the medblogs), so I don’t understand half of what these guys are talking about. But I love the way they turn a phrase. Plus they can be kind of moody and dark.

The Angry Medic is a medical student at Cambridge. Very enjoyable reading, but I will be more interested in his take on the upcoming "The Apprentice".

Dr. Shroom is an ER doctor. I read him so I know what colour I don’t want to be, i.e., blue, yellow, parchment white.

Hospital Phoenix is a surgeon (I think), unemployed at the moment. Damn NHS (whatever the hell that is). If you are offended by Nurse Quacktitioner, you’d better skip this one.

What I agonized over whether to delete or leave in this post: ["I thought I was developing a little crush on one of these guys, but reconsidered after reading a headline declaring there was a serial killer on the loose in England. With my track record . . ."]

In case you ever wanted to know what lawyers talk about while eating birthday cake in the conference room:

1. Dead rock stars
2. Autoerotic asphyxiation
3. Rising property taxes.

Note to HospitalPhoenix: I am going to miss you and nurse quack.

Okay, I know what NHS is, I just don't know that much about it.

You could venture over to the patient blogs for a little variety . . . ;o)

Ah, but I do read patient blogs. I've been to your blog quite a few times. I am a just a notorious lurker and rarely leave comments. If you have ever seen any of the few comments I have left, you would understand why I rarely comment. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Frectis--Been there; done that. I enjoy both of them, but I can't read them at work. MWAK made me cry.

Awww...yes, they do that sometimes.

Thanks for the plug. "Moody and dark"? Ooh, I'm multidimensional now :)

And yes. Being a huge Trump fan, the new Apprentice will feature very heavily on me blog when it comes out :)

And trust me old chap. You don't WANT to know what the NHS it. "Damn NHS" will pretty much do you in good stead anywhere in England :)

I want a piece of that birthday cake. And those conversations.

I second my angry colleague. And, of course, thanks for the plug, too. It might just be coincidence, but I was talking about dead rock stars (albeit only the ones who did it to themselves) myself. But I don't know a great deal about taxes :( ...

It never fails that, no matter what the topic is, some lawyer will say “You know, that reminds me of a case...” and the conversation quickly turns into a legal discussion. The autoerotic asphyxiation conversation turned into a debate about whether an insurance company would have to pay out on a life insurance policy. Although one attorney, at one point in his argument, asked "what do you call a farmer with a pig under each arm?"

Hello! Cheers for the mention, I'll be bookmarking you to see what mischief you're getting up to next!

I'm currently not employed by the damn NHS, but by research funds. WHich means I can afford to fill the fridge, but prospects for the future are uncertain. Damn NHS!

And how could sweet lil NurseQuack offend anyone? She's a very sweet quacktitioner... she likes hillwalking and satsumas!
