The Blog Readability Test

What Level of Education is Required to Understand Your Blog?

cash advance

I got no problem with that.

Well, now that I think about it, maybe I'm speaking too soon. The last time I took one of these tests, I became obsessed with increasing my blog rating. At first I wasn't bothered by my PG rating, but then it started eating away at me. I played it over and over in my head...you're only rated PG...you're only rated PG. So I tried to spice things up and boost my rating. My second try was only worth a PG-13 rating. I wanted to quit, but I was urged on by my blogging pals to try again. I added another paragraph, upping the sex and violence, and I finally scored an "R" rating. What a sense of accomplishment.

So I have a choice: Do I want to write a bunch of intellectual crap and try to boost my readability score? Or do I want to go watch a South Park rerun? Hmmm...

***BTW, when I said "Do I want to write a bunch of intellectual crap", I really meant, do I want to try to think of a subject I could Google that would lead to sites containing a shitload of big words, then cut and paste that content onto my blog.

Mine rated "college-post grad," which I don't get because my last post was about Sammy Hagar! I think this one is flawed . . . I'll have to ask my three readers.

Hmmmmm, time to see if this blog is rated, G, PG, PG-13 . . .

"Shitload" and "crap" should keep up the "R" rating.

How do they come up with that rating so fast? I did it and mine came up college (postgrad) which is ridiculous unless they mean it takes a college degree to decipher my run on sentences and challenging grammar. Perhaps yours is rated high School level because it's more clear and doesn't require convoluted thinking and decoding abilities.

I got hung up on the PG rating one too, only because I thought I should be G. However, mentioning pain and death made me PG. Then when I talked about my rating, I checked back and I was R. All the cancer bloggers I know were R. Oh brother.

Um, my blog is rated G . . . I think I need to remedy that. Perhaps then I will no longer be rated college - postgrad. I decided to input some of my favorite medblogs, and most of them were rated "middle school level" . . . I think the whole rating thing is backward. Ha!

I wonder what they used to create the rating . . .

Since mine is rated at genius level I distrust this test completely. I think it's just cycling around all the possibilities in turn and it's totally random how you score. My theory and I'm sticking to it!

JMB, interesting theory, maybe that explains it. I too got the "genius" category. I could see it if it was for my medical blog, but not my regular one!

Now, just hang on a minute. I know I haven't been posting...well, barely at all lately but come on!

I got Elementary School! And that completely contradicts my NC-17.

And I do write some things about medications and try to dissect studies and well...erm...try to sound like, kinda smart and use big words and stuff, right?

Maybe it was because one of the last posts I published was a total joke about "Writer's Block" and was written like a real idiot composed it--and was in one single rambling paragraph.

That must have been it.
