Delete Heartbroken?

I just got finished reading a horrible post on another blog. It included threats of de-linking. It sounded so lame and pathetic that I immediately came back to delete my “Heartbroken” post. I reconsidered though (mainly because of the comments re: EMTALA; you should check them out, very informative and entertaining).

Hopefully, everyone who reads “Heartbroken” realizes that I am poking fun at myself for briefly getting my feelings hurt because ATM was removed from the KevinMD feeds (ATM did not get de-linked by Kevin). If I were really upset about it, I would do what I always do: remain silent, pout and make BF’s life miserable until I got over it, even though BF had nothing to do with it.

I've sometimes thought of deleting posts I've written but never done it. People have always said not to and my blog is my space to write whatever I want to--even if it's in the heat of the moment.

Not that your post was written that way...as you say. I'm just using that as an example as I have impulsivity issues and can tend to post when I get riled up about something.

However, I've never deleted a post (nor a comment) from my blog. Maybe I'm a purist of sorts but I guess I just think everything should be left there for some sort of "My Blog And My Life Is Insane And Ridiculous Posterity."

I agree. You're just stronger than I am.

I "deleted" one post for the time being, meaning that I put it back into draft mode for a while. The last two comments really got me upset and I deleted the post for a while - just this past week, I put the post back up. So, my point is that don't completely delete it, if you're thinking of that. Maybe just place it back into draft mode and see how you feel about it before deleting it completely. Click on the post here.

Don't take it down, I thought it was pretty funny actually. Very clever to link it to the five stages of grief. I think you need your deleting privileges taken away. You're too quick on the draw. I've still got you on my feed, just as well since you're a bit intermittent.

Seems like something wrong happening among medical blogs...as I am visiting a lot of medical blogs they are talking about what to post, what not to post, conditions for comments, code of conduct for bloggers whole lot of new things...anyway I hope you will get your feed back on Kevin's blog...

Well I am new on your blog...wanted to say hi...you have added another reader to your blog now....

It was funny! Some people seem to take this stuff WAY too seriously.

I guess people feel like delinking is a reflection on their writing or them as a person. It is kind of a "diss" in a way, and it's a bad kind of diss, because if there is a reason why they chose to delink you, it's not likely that you'd find it out. So you'd be left wondering..

I think patientanonymous has the best philosophy about it (and PS - I've found myself do the same thing when I "get riled up" :) Then I find that "editing can be your friend" :)

That's another thing I don't get that I've noticed about bloggers - some never seem to edit their writing for spelling/content. Personally, I know my writing would never be perfect (I'm a scientist, not a writer :) so what is wrong with editing? It actually is better for the reader if the writer edits rather than having to read long, boring posts, right?

I've deleted some posts before, but am putting most of them back up (now).

health watch center- good observation. I wonder if it relates to barbados butterfly stopping her blog after getting suspended at work for it? Also, I recently read that some one or some org is suggesting a sorta code of conduct for bloggers in general... like no anonymous comments, and no bad words.

It temporally mirrors the mainstream media issues that have been reported for Michael Richards and Don Imus. Maybe part of the whole global civility discussion going on now.
